The Best Games for 8-Year-Olds

We’re big board game people over here and it’s so fun now that our oldest is 8 and can actually play games that involve some strategy as opposed to Candy Land on repeat. Over the past year he’s really started to enjoy games that require some thought and loves brain teaser games as well! He just turned 8 and received even more fun games so I decided to round up our list of the best games for 8 year olds!

Ticket to Ride Junior - A strategy game that involves a Map of the US so a little geography is added into the fun!

Monopoly Deal - Like Monopoly but 15x faster! We’ve been playing with Gavin for 2 years now and it is so fun for kids and adults!

Kanoodle Head to Head - My sister is a pediatric OT and knows all the good kid games and she gifted this to Gav for his birthday. We have been playing it non-stop and have already gotten his friends hooked! There are 80 challenge cards so you can play again and again.

Labyrinth - A Maze game that constantly changes with every turn so you have to keep switching up your strategy! This Super Mario edition is perfect for kiddos!

Match Madness - Another gift from my sister, this game was a hit! Similar to Kanoodle, it’s a great brain teaser style game that has multiple puzzle cards and can be played by 4 people.

Catan Junior - A strategy driven game that is fun for kids and adults. Can last a little longer, closer to 30 minutes sometimes so beware!

Rubiks Race - Gavin is Rubiks Cube obsessed and has spent so much time solving and obsessing over them that 2 friends bought him this game. It’s a fun, quick puzzle challenge for 2 players that has countless options.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza - A quick, laughter filled game that is easy to take on the go.

Battleship - A classic game that stands the test of time!
